GOLDEN ARROWS 4

2 ROYAL EAGLES

Competition: NFD
Date: Saturday ,25 April 2015
Venue: Chatsworth Stdm
Kick-off: 15:00pm

Lamontville Golden Arrows have defeated Royal Eagles in their Derby match this afternoon in Chatsworth.

The first half of the game was a tension filled encounter that saw 4 goals in total being split equally between the two sides.

Royal Eagles opened the scoring against the play, after Abafana Bes’thende took the game to them at every turn. They held their lead until the 36th minute when goal from Khenyeza leveled the scores. Not two minutes later Royal Eagles took the lead again, after a break in Arrows defence saw Royal Eagles put in the back of the net for their second.

Astonishingly Abafana’s reply was to the point, this game was not getting away from them, and they replied with the eqauliser in the 1 minute of additional time to the half, again off the boot of Khenyeza.

The break could not have come sooner, with tensions on the field rising with players from both sides feeling the frustration of a very hard fought first half.

After the break, Abafana Bes’thende came out a lot calmer, and the game plan was once again the focus. They were meticulous in how they played, who they passed to, where they were each positioned and this meant that they were able to make calculated plays with their posession.

They pushed into the Royal Eagles box a number of times, and were denied by both good goal keeping and shots just not finding target.

The pressure was showing on the Royal Eagles side, who had not been into Golden Arrows box as often as they would have liked, and their game turned into more of a defensive one than attacking.

This caused a lack of concentration on their side, and in one of Golden Arrows advances, the ball was played to a hand of an eagles player, which resulted in a penalty. The penaly was taken by Fikizolo who made sure the ball went into the net.

Royal Eagles then seemed to lack composure and energy, and again, errors cost them. Khenyeza put some amazing pressure on the keeper, receiving the ball, he fumbled and Hotto managed to get the ball, and casually sealed the game for Abafana Bes’thende.

Thank you to all the support at Chatsworth Stadium, it is always encouraging to see how motivated you help to keep the team during a game. Abafana Bes’thende are playing Thanda Royal Zulu away on Wednesday, and all support will be greatly appreciated.
