Valery Nahayo and Siphiwe Tshabalala were on the score sheet as the Glamour Boys thump Golden Arrows by 2-0 in at Rand Stadium on Saturday night.

Nahayo who scored his first goal against Golden Arrows in 2008/2009 season fired from home in the 50th minute with a cheeky flick while Siphiwe Tshabalala scored from the spot kick, in a game where the Glamour Boys should have scored more goals.

Vladimir Vermezovic, who before the game had some words with his fellow citizen Zoran Filipovic, made one change to the side that beat Bloemfontein Celtic in the MTN8 last Saturday. Skipper, Jimmy Tau replacing injured Tlou Molekwane as the Glamour Boys looked for a bright start into the 2010/2011 season.

It was Siphiwe Tshabalala though who came close to giving the hosts the lead when he unleashed a screamer from 35 yards out, going just wide of Helton Da Rocha’s left up right.

With Chiefs settling for an opener, Da Rocha was called to duty in the 24th minute pulling a brilliant save to deny Dominic Isaacs who had rose the highest to head Mandla Masango’s sublime corner.

Chiefs who looked solid as ever at the back dominated the middle of the park where Mthokozisi Yende and Reneilwe Letsholonyane seem to have forged a good partnership, but could not open Golden Arrows defence as half time score remained goalless.

The Glamour Boys came out smoking in the second half with Valery Nahayo firing home with a cheeky flick in the in the 50th minute.

Vermezovic had started with one striker and three offensive players but decided to bring on a second striker, Sthembiso Ngcobo to try and pressurise Arrows from the back. The trick worked wonders as Ngcobo won the home side a penalty in the 66th minute after he was fouled inside 18-area box. Tshabalala made no mistake from the spot, 2-0 to the home side.

“Valdez” as Ngcobo is affectionately known came close to adding his name to the score sheet as his header came off the woodwork following a superb cross from Mandla Masango on the right.

Man of the Match, Mthokozisi Yende brilliantly set up by substitute Josta Dladla thought he had grabbed a third one for the Glamour Boys but was denied by an alert Da Rocha.

At the end of the day the 2-0 was enough to give the Amakhosi a well deserved three points in their first Absa Premiership game of the season.
