Lamontville Golden Arrows have twice come from behind to defeat SuperSport United 4-2 in an Absa Premiership clash at the Chatsworth Stadium on Wednesday night.

It was a maiden victory for new Golden Arrows coach Ernst Middendorp and a first win in 10 games for the side, delivered via goals from Collins Mbesuma (two), Bryce Moon and Siyabonga Sangweni.

The home side were pegged back early when Morgan Gould scored after just six minutes as he headed home a fine delivery from Jabu Maluleke.

Bryce Moon tested the palms of his former national teammate Rowen Fernandez in the SuperSport goal with a stinging drive that the gloveman did well to push to safety.

The home side were level midway through the first half though as top-scorer Mbesuma netted his seventh of the season as he reacted quickest in a goal-mouth scramble.

But Abafana Bes’thende found themselves behind again as SuperSport took the lead once more, and again it was Maluleke who supplied the cross, but this time Tebogo Langerman got on the end of his teasing delivery.

Thumelo Ntshumayelo forced a good save from Siphamandla Ntombela in the home goal as the half drew to a close, but SuperSport went into the break with a 2-1 advantage.

The home side were level again just past the hour mark as Mbesuma netted his second, set up by the industrious Thanduyise Khuboni.

And from then on in, it was all Golden Arrows. After Fernandez had saved brilliantly from Mbesuma again, Moon found the goal his play deserved as he fired the ball home with 12 minutes left on the clock.

And just two minutes later it was 4-2 when centre-back Sangweni headed home Norikazu Murakami’s corner.

Nhlanhla Sithole saw his excellent shot go wide with five minutes remaining and Golden Arrows were able to weather the late storm from SuperSport to secure a vital three points.
