2 GOLDEN ARROWS
Competition: PSL
Date: Saturday, 19 November 2011
Venue: Sinaba Stadium
Kick-off: 15:30pm
Goals from Philani Shange and Thamsanqa Gabuza handed Lamontville Golden Arrows their second away win of the season as they beat bottom-placed Jomo Cosmos 2-0 away at the Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton.
The match marked a first win in the league for new coach Muhsin Ertugral and a boost for the team ahead of the upcoming Telkom Knockout semifinals.
Arrows remain in 14th place in the Absa Premiership standings but there is now some distance between the club and the bottom two clubs on the log.
Shange scored on the stroke of half-time to give Arrows the lead as the teams went into the interval. His shot came after a square pass from Jabulani Nene. Shange was also named as man of the match.
The goal came as a relief at the end of a pedestrian first half but broke the deadlock on a weekend of goalless action in the Premier Soccer League.
Gabuza’s goal came in the 63rd minute as he finished off some good work by Siyabonga Nkosi. Arrows had stolen possession away from Cosmos on the edge of the home team’s area.
Fullback Siyanda Zwane had to leave the pitch with 20 minutes left because of injury.
Six minutes of time was added on at the end of the game but by the end the result had been sewn up by Arrows’ superiority.
Arrows’ previous away win was at Kaizer Chiefs in Polokwane in the last match before Ertugral was appointed.
