BLACK LEOPARDS 2
1 GOLDEN ARROWS
Competition: Absa Premiership
Date: Saturday, 06 March 2013
Venue: Old Peter Mokaba Std
Lamontville Golden Arrows have suffered a 2-1 loss away at Black Leopards in their Absa Premiership clash at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday night.
Zimbabwean striker Brian Amidu and midfielder Mongezi Bobe got the goals for Leopards as they ended a four game losing streak in the league, picking up their first top-flight victory of 2013.
Abafana Bes’thende played much the same line-up that had done duty in the 1-0 win over Free State Stars at the weekend, though Masonwabe Bovu was given a start in the place of Jabulani Nene.
They looked good for spells of the game, but could not enough cutting edge to trouble the home goalkeeper.
Leopards were ahead just before the half-hour mark as Diala Manaka swung in a cross that was headed home by Amidu.
Lidoda Duvha skipper Bobe made it 2-0 when he converted from a Raymond Monama pass on 59 minutes after the home side made a good start to the second half.
Nguzana pulled a goal back late on after coming on as a substitute, providing a neat finish for his first goal of the season.
But the visitors could not find an equaliser, in fact it was Leopards who came closest to scoring again, Bobe striking the crossbar.
Next up for Golden Arrows is their Nedbank Cup clash with Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld on March 15 as they take a break from league action in the coming weekend.
