A disappointing first half saw Lamontville Golden Arrows defeated 3-0 by Bloemfontein Celtic in their Absa Premiership clash at the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Abafana Bes’thende were stung by three first half goals from Gabadini Mhango, Thabo Nththe and Vuyani Ntanga and never recovered.

Coach Mark Harrison went largely with the same starting XI that has been doing duty in recent weeks, starting with forward Bongi Ntuli up front.

But a poor start set the tone for the game as Celtic caught the visitors cold with an early goal. Celtic had the lead inside three minutes as their Malawian international Mhango fired the ball home with a neat finish past Siya Mngoma in the Arrows goal.

And the home side netted their second mid-way through the first when Nthethe headed home from Ntanga’s ball into the box. And the latter got Phunya Sele Sele’s third as he scored from Musa Nyatama’s pass, the night going from bad to worse for the visitors.

The second half was more even as Arrows tried to fight their way back into the game, but found the Celtic defence impenetrable.

Arrows will now look forward to what could be a crucial Durban Derby against AmaZulu on December 14 where they will seek to kick start their season.
