Kick-off: 15:30pm
Lamontville Golden Arrows have defeated Maulti FET college in another epic NFD battle in Chatsworth this afternoon.
The home side managed 4 goals with Maluti scoring 1 and then getting another through an own goal from Mngewngew in the 60th minute of the game.
The first half was a pretty even battle between both sides, with Arrows showing some early dominance and managing to put the first goal in the net in just the 10th minute of the game off the boot of Sibeko, from a brilliant cut back ball by Mkhize. The goal keeper was found out of position expecting Mkhize to be the final attacker, but a cross to Sibeko saw him slot one past the keeper.
A 30 minute tactical sub by the home side, saw Hotto take to the field in place of C.Cele and the injection of the speed up the left hand side of the field had an influence on the game from the minute he ran on.
This being said, the battle of the sides still continued and it ws just before the half time whistle, after a mix up inside Golden Arrows smalll box, that Maluti managed an equaliser to take the teams into the break at one goal all.
The second half saw another tactical change by Lamontville Golden Arrows, and Vilakazi came onto the field from the change rooms in place of Sibeko who was injured. The verteren player made a great impact on the game today, playing deep up the midfield attack.
Abafana Bes’thende had a fantasic second half, and after some aggresive attacking by the strikers, they took the lead early on in the second half when Hendricks played the ball right up the centre of the field, to find the boot of Masaole, who scored his first for the day.
The third goal came off more great posession and play, when Hotto crossed the ball from the right-hand side of the field and found Vilakazi hungry for a goal, he banged it past the Maulti goal keeper to take the score to 3 -1.
Maluti then had an opportunity to increase their score, when unfortunately Mngwengwe knocked the ball into his own goals and giving the visitors another goal for their tally.
This did not however make Lamontville Golden Arrows despondant, and they saw Mkhize come in and score his first for the season off another fantastic cross by Hotto.
The home side has surely seemed to find its feet in the NFD and are climbing the ladder to promotion one rung at a time.
