GOLDEN ARROWS 2
0 HIGHLANDS PARK
Competition: NFD
Date: Saturday ,13 December 2014
Venue: Chatsworth Stadium
Kick-off: 15:30pm
Lamontville Golden Arrows have been sucessful in a 2-0 win over Highlands Park in Chatsworth this afternoon.
The game kicked off in every way from the first whistle, with Abafana Bes’thende making it clear that they wanted to score early when they took their first shot at goal in the first minute.
Highlands Park were not letting them get away with that easily and immidiately put up a fight for posession and ground.
The game plan paid off in the 11th minute for Golden Arrows when the ball was blasted into the net off the boot of Hendricks from a set piece outside their box. This set the tone for the first half and saw the home side taking opportunities whenever they could.
Their posession and retention of the ball allowed them to move the ball around and explore opportunity.
Highlands frustration showed as they became a little physical on the field, and after some contact, and a red card Highlands found themselves down to 10 men. After one of their players received his second yellow card.
Highlands held themselves well for the reaminder of the half and the teams went to the break with Arrows leading by one goal to none.
After the half time break, the teams came back onto the field and the tempo of the game seemed to settle, but this was only for 5 minutes.
Arrows decided that they would take advantage of any opportunity that came around for them to take the ball upfield and attack the opposition goal.
With a boost in energy on the park in the 50th minute with Hotto and Khubone coming on as subs. Golden Arrows took every opportunity to take shots at goal.
This paid off when Nkanyiso Cele pushed the ball in after a cross and shot, had hit the bar, and bounced favourably at his feet. Taking the home team to 2 goals to 0.
From then on, Abafana Bes’thende bombarded the goals of the visitors at every opportunity. When they had posession, they were on the attck, with very little play in the mid field.
It has to be said though, that Highlands Park put up a good fight, never giving up and making opportunities for themselves to try and open their scoring.
Lamontville Golden Arrows host Black Leopards next Saturday 20th December in their last NFD fixture before the festive break. We would love all our supportrs to get to Chatsworth to see the game
