Lamontville Golden Arrows have secured their first home win this season beating African Warriors 1-0 in their fixture against African Warriors at Princess Magogo Stadium.

The home team came out and showed their intentions early in the game, resulting in Mngwengwe scoring the only goal in the game in the 4th minute.

The visiting team seemed to rally a bit after this, and the following 10 minutes of the game saw them playing a shorter ball to each other and getting the feel for the Arrows Players.

the team went on the attack continually, with Hotto, Mkhize and Sikhakhane taking the ball up to the last quarter of the filed at every opportunity they could.

Motaung had probably one of the better opportunities in the game to equalise for Warriors in the 20th minute, but he shot the ball just wide of the posts. This encouraged African Warriors and for a small period of play they looked confident, getting up to the goal a number of times, but never really looking like they were going to score.

The intensity of the game increased and both teams started playing a pretty physical game, this resulted in Cele receiving quite a knock to his head, which later resulted in him being substituted by Rantabane in the 28th minute

Good attacking play from Golden Arrows allowed them to create scoring opportunities, but none were converted into goals.

The last 10 minutes of the first half saw Warriors trying to create oportunities, they had a shot at goal which was saved by Mbaeva.

Shortly before half time hotto had an opportunity to score but he pushes it over the bar, this saw the teams leaving the field with no additional score at half-time.

African Warriors returned to the field full of determination in the second half, however this was cut short by the attacking game that Arrows played. The second half was dominated by Golden Arrows, with Afican Warriors finding a number of opportunities to go on attack as well.

However Lamontville Golden Arrows were not allowing their rival team to have enough ball to take advantage .They countered every move from Warriors, and pushed straight back into the opposition half once they had taken posession of the ball.

Some great play from McCarthy saw a lot of ball being taken from Warriors, Hotto, Zwane and Rantabane made good work of wide ball on the attack.

Unfortunately another goal could just not be found, but maximum points from a home game was the ultimate ojective and the team achieved that.
