Golden Arrows have beaten Santos 1-0 in Chatsworth this afternoon after a physical battle that saw both sides pushed to the boundaries as they faced off in their NFD fixture.

The first half was a battle both physically and mentally for both sides, as both sides failed to score any goals in the first half of the match. There were periods of play that saw each team looking positive, playing the ball to the opposition goals, but neither side being able to capitalise on the opportunities that they had.

This meant that the defenders for both Golden Arrows and Santos were kept on their toes. Making sure that any advantage the opposition had created was quickly and effectively suppressed. The play was pretty aggresive on both sides and there were two small incidentas that saw both teams getting frustrated on the field.

The debut from Brandon Parusnath saw some exciting play in the midfield, and he impressed a number of times when he scuttled Santos attack. Katjuikua played a great role at the back, and on a number of attacking spells from Santos, managed to stop them in their tracks.

Neither side showed any great opportunities to score in the first half, returning to the changeroom with no score.

In the 16th minute of the second half, after coming out showing determination from the whistle, a free kick from Parusnath played right into the box was headed for an own goal by Santos. This fired Abafana Bes’thende and for 5 minutes after this, Golden Arrows created number of opportunities to score, dominating play with frustration clearly showing in the Santos camp.
The home side never let up on the pressure, and charged into Santos half as often as possible, firing a number of shots at goal, with no luck at going in, however, keeping the pressure up on the visiting side. Santos could just not get it right on the day, they had a number of opportunities, but luck was just not with them.

At almost full time, Mdletshe with a great chance to score, only the goalie to beat, who comes out and scuttles the ball away with a desperate kick. Thereafter, Santos had a number of chances but none looked dangerous enough an Mbaeva did a great job at defending the net from the visitors.
