Lamontville Golden Arrows failed to score the game opener in the first minute after being awarded a penalty after Nonyane unfairly challenged Sibeko in the box. Cele stepped up but was denied by Walters. Merely a couple minutes later Mpumalanga Black Aces were awarded a penalty and Mbesuma made no mistake and put the hosts in the lead.
Aces attacked at will, and looked dangerous but were called offsides on two occasions, they did however score their second in the 31st minute off the boot of Moseamedi, setting the scene for a dramatic first half finish.
Larsen subbed Sibiya with Mhango in the 36th and this was a great move on his behalf. Within 5 minutes he made an impact, scoring his first goal for Lamontville Golden Arrows after Walters conceded a penalty that he converted. Three minutes later he scored the equaliser after an attacking throw in. The ball bounced up, Mhango connected with his head and sent the teams into the changeroom equal at half time.
The pace of the game never settled in the early minutes of the second half and Mhango achieved a hat trick after an assist from Mahachi saw him into the box area and put the ball in the back of the net.
Mpumalanga Black Aces continued their fight and put in some hard tackles and caution to the wind as they fought back against Abafana Bes’thende. Mhango was the man on fire though, and another amazing assist from Mahachi saw him get his fourth for the day as he beat Walters, swinging the team from 2-0 down in the first to lead 4-2 with 15 minutes to go.
Black Aces could not find a break through to come back and Lamontville golden Arrows held them back to finish their Freedom Day with a resounding 4-2 win
