CHIPPA UTD 0
0 GOLDEN ARROWS
Competition: PSL
Date: Saturday , 07 May 2016
Venue: Buffalo City Stadium
Kick-off: 15:00pm
Abafana Bes’thende have played to a goalless draw at buffalo City Stadium in East London this afternoon.
The first half was a well fought affair, and Golden Arrows missed an early chance to take the lead just 10 minutes into the half from a free kick. Mahachi just missed the opportunity as his shot sailed over the bar. Mhango then came close to scoring for his third came in a row after challenging Chippa keeper Akpeyi, but the ball narrowly missed the right upright.
He then tried to shake Akpeyi again in the 33rdminute when he unleashed a powerful shot in the 33rd minute however, Akpeyi was up to the challenge and denied him the glory.
Chippa United had a number of scoring opportunities as well, but solid defending and an on-form Mbaeva saw all threats thwarted when they played into the last 3rd.
Chippa came back fighting in the second half, and within a minute of the half, had Mbaeva at work defending his goal.
This set the tempo for the second half in which Lamontville Golden Arrows defended hard and had to use their possession well to play up into the home teams last 3rd.
The Chilli Boys did all they could to break the deadlock, but improved defence from Lamontville Golden Arrows would not allow them to get the breakthrough they were searching for.
Clinton Larsen will return with his team to Durban where they will prepare for their last game of the season against Jomo Cosmos on Wednesday night at Princess Magogo Stadium.
The game kicks off at 19h30 and being the last home game of the season would love to get as much support there as possible.
