Kick-off: 18h00
Abafana Bes’thende have had a disappointing finish to the year as they have gone down 2-0 to Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium tonight.
With a first half that never saw either side really get into the game, it was upsetting that the visitors were allowed to score in the 29th minute, after allowing Parker to find the back of the net from a header. This was the highlight of the half as both teams never really looked to dominate.
The second half was more promising as the sides returned. We made and early substitution, with KG coming on for Sibiya. The tempo of the game increased and we looked more threatening playing to the last third, but again our finishing let us down. Sibeko and Fikizolo had some great close range chances, but Khuzwayo did well to make his saves to deny us. There were also attempts from range from Ntanga and Mahachi but we were just not able to find out target.
Kaizer Chiefs were then rewarded again for their efforts after a cross form the right off Molangoane was headed in by a charging Tshabalala. Although we made an attempt to come back from this, we were just not able to.
We have a break now for the festive period and then a forced AFCON break and return to the field for business on the 8th February as we face Supersport United away.
