SUPERSPORT UTD 5
2 GOLDEN ARROWS
Competition: PSL
Date: Wednesday, 08 February 2017
Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium
Kick-off: 19h30
Abafana Bes’thende have been beaten by 5 goals to 2 by a determined SuperSport United in Tshwane this evening.
The first half saw both teams playing end to end, and just not managing to convert their efforts in the last third. Early on in the half, debutant Mutizwa had a one-on-one with Pieterse but missed the opportunity to take us into the lead.
We had another two chances in the first half, but neither had the finishing to give us a breakthrough.
Some promising play from the debutants, great support and attacking from the rest of the team but we went into the break with a 0-0- draw.
The second half started in blistering pace! Shortly after returning for the second stanza, SuperSport United subbed Phala on for Masango. This fired the team up and saw two quick succesive goals for the home side as Letsholonyane scored and a minute later replacement Phala found the back of the net to give the home team an early second half lead.
Mahachi answered the call and pulled one back just ten minutes later after some enterprising play, supersport got a corner and a mix up in the arrows box saw an own goal gifting the home side after Msowoya scored an own goal.
Cole Alexander then scored for SuperSport to increase the lead further. Lamola then pulled another back after Jooste cut the ball back to him and he found the back of the net.
But the night belonged to SuperSport Unite who sealed the game with a goal from Gould, making the final score 5-2 to the home side.
There is no break for Abafana Bes’thende as they return to Durban to face Bloemfontein Celtic at 15h30 on Saturday at Princess Magogo Stadium.
