CHIPPA UTD 2
2 GOLDEN ARROWS
Competition: PSL
Date: Friday, 24 February 2017
Venue: Sisa Dukashe Stadium
Kick-off: 20h00
Lamontville Golden Arrows came back twice to secure a draw with a determined Chippa United this evening. In a game of two halves, the sides shared the points in an entertaining game in East London.
The first half was dominated by Chippa United who created goal scoring opportunities while enjoying 70% of possession in the first 45 minutes. They secured their first goal in the 15th minute with Masuku feeding Manzini the ball. The assist allowed him to shoot freely and he beat Gumede to give them an early first half lead.
Coach Larsen made a technical substitution early on in the first half when he bought Sibiya on for Mngwengwe but could not break the lead before the half break. \’We allowed them too much time on the ball!\’, was Coach Larsens comment on the half.
Another tactical change coming back onto the pitch saw Ndwandwe coming on for Jooste after the break. The youngser impressed in his debut game for the senior team and broke the line a number of times and had two promising shots at the goals.
Coming on as a different looking side after the break, Lamola made the break through for us in the 50th minute. The enjoyment was short lived as Manzini, again assisted by Masuku, put the home side in the lead again only 3 minutes later.
Determined though, after some great attacking moves, we were once again rewarded with a second goal from Lamola after regrouping and pushing up into Chippa\’s last third.
Neither team could score in the final 10 minutes though, but both tried to break the defence to secure a win.
It will be back to Durban to prepare for the KZN Derby against Maritzburg United at Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday 4th March for the team.
