We have lost tonight against Mamelodi Sundowns in a well fought game that looked promising for us until the 60th minute.

Both teams came out showing intent from the first whistle, this was evident from the sheer physical display of the first few minutes of play from both teams. We were determined to take the game to Sundowns with a fast paced side that we wanted to use to penetrate their defence. We had a clear opportunity on the 7th minute with Mahachi being favourably placed in the middle of the field, he beat a player and had a shot at goal, but a diving Onyango denied him the chance.

Only 10 minutes later Kekana showed why he is a danger against any opposition with a well struck shot. He opened the scoring for the visitors, taking the wind out of our game for a while as we regrouped and looked for the chances to break their defence.

Masandwana took this as an opportunity and Gumede managed to hold off some well placed shots at goal in this period of play. We found our footing again and had a number of well executed attacking plays that saw us get into the last 3rd but just not able to convert the opportunities to a goal.

We went into the break a goal down and returned with the fire still burning to score a goal. We created the first chance after the break as Jooste put Lamola through on goal, but the resulting shot agonisingly was wide, finsding the side netting. We had numerous attacking plays that should have been converted but we were just not on target, and Onyango did well to defend his goals.

Sundowns got their second goal off a corner, shortly after Gumede had his save of the night tipping a ball over the bars. An in-curling corner was favourable for Madisha, who headed the ball in for the visitors second goal for the night.

The remainder of the game was a tough affair for us as we advanced into the strike zone but could just not use the opportunities to our advantage, while falling back to defend the quick counter attacks from Masandwana.

We have a break for a week in which to regroup and prepare for Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium on the 6th of May, which has a 20h15 kickoff.

Again a great deal of thanks needs to go out to our home support who came out in numbers tonight.
