Venue: Princess Magogo Stadium
Kick-off: 15h00
We have been beaten this afternoon in the semi-final of the 2017 Nedbank Cup after a 34 minute goal by Mobara, which was enough to secure the game for Orlando Pirates.
The first half was dominated by the visitors who threw everything at us from the first whistle, playing up into the last 3rd and creating chances from every angle. We managed to hold off a number of attacks with Gumede remaining calm under pressure and cleaning up well. A set piece in the 34th minute created the opportunity for Orlando Pirates and their corner was played to the near post where Mobara was unmarked. He headed the ball in and put the visitors in the lead going into the break.
Both teams returned for the second half and we seemed more determined, creating better and cleaner opportunities to try and score. But we could just not get the ball on mark no matter what we tried. We had fantastic shots from Magubane, Mahachi, Sibiya and Mthiyane but none were on the mark.
A late flourish from us saw three quick successive shots on goal, but Mabokgwane kept a cool head for the visitors and ensured the win for them.
We would like to thank our supporters for their never ending loyalty to the team. Your voices in the crowd today did not go unheard. We appreciate your dedication to the side.
We would also like to congratulate both Supersport United and Orlando Pirates on advancing to the final of the Nedbank Cup this year.
