COACHES COMMENT 23.05.2011 At the front just a line to say thanks for the fantastic season which Orlando Pirates presented. Well-deserved they won the league title. Congratulations on such an excellent result!
On the other side I want to say thanks to our players too. They showed character, everybody was putting his heart and soul into his work to represent the colours of the club Lamontville Golden Arrows FC in a wonderful way. Thanks on such good performance!
Some players not regular used before got the opportunity to play. Mlungiseni Masinga showed up very well in the centre-back position partnering Siyabonga Sangweni. For the first time I used Joseph Musonda on the right-fullback position. Joseph was powerful. Itumeleng Duiker replaced Thanduyise Khubone in the central midfield position. With full commitment Itu blocked the midfield play of Jali and Manyisa. Thamsanqa Gabuza supported Collins Mbesuma with his clean and uncompromising attacking activity upfront.
In top-level football, the style of play and the tactical movement vary from one game to another, or even during the same match depending on the game situation. Already in our last home game against Ama Zulu at half time we switched from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2. During that 2nd half the players showed their level of football intelligence, their ability to adapt. For the first time we used the ’narrow 4-4-2 formation’. Again our team did very well and created a lot of problems for the Champion Team. Well done!
