Reserves season comes to an end 07.05.2012
The Reserves season has come to an end after some exciting and entertaining football over the last week, finishing 2nd on the log. Although equal at 69 points to Young Mates who topped the log, our team had lesser amount of goals scored over the season.
They were defeated in their semi final match against Rockers FC in the play offs. Rockers FC, owned by former Lamontville Golden Arrows player Mabhuti Khanyeza , won the game after the penalty shoot out! The game could not be decided after 90 minutes,so the game went straight to penalties! Arrows took the lead in the match after 30 minutes by scoring a well played move which saw the ball in the back of the net and held that lead until 15 minutes before the full time whistle when Rockers pulled an equalizer.
Arrows had a number of chances to score again but failed to capitalise on them to win the game. After the full 90 minutes the game went straight into penalties. A staggering battle ensued with each team taking 12 penalties each. Arrows ended missed 4 penalties which saw,Rockers FC win 9 - 8 on penalties.
On Sunday 06 May, Arrows Reserves played the play-offs for 3rd and 4th place. That game also had to be decided on penalties, the game ended 2-2 and even saw arrows miss a penalty which could have finished off the game for them, but this was not the case. So after the final whistle the game went straight into penalties. Arrows won 6-5 on penalties thus finishing off in position 3 in the Play-offs.
During the season Arrows played 30 games, won 22 games, lost 5 and drew 3. The log below is the final log for the season.
