Zoran Filipovic's native language is Serbian. However, he speaks
just as well both English and Portuguese. He also uses Spanish
and Italian. During his playing years and despite his popularity
following him everywhere, this was never an impediment for him
to attend high school and the Law University in Belgrade. He took
his professional coaching degree in Portugal and conducted his
specialization through the Scottish Football Association at the
same course as Jose Mourinho.

PLAYING CAREER
Zoran Filipovic made his name in football as a striker with Red
Star Belgrade where he spent ten seasons at the club (1970-1980).
He played 520 games and scored 302 goals. He was Yugoslav's First
League top scorer in 1976/77 season with 21 goals. Till this day
he still holds the club record for most goals in European competitions
- scoring 28 goals for Red Star in European Cup, Cup Winners' Cup
and UEFA Cup. He also went on to play for Club Brugge for one season,
he played three seasons for SL Benfica where he scored 28 goals
in 54 league games. He also guided Benfica to the 1983 UEFA Cup
Final against Anderlecht, being the top scorer of the competition
and scoring memorable goals. Filipovic ended his career with Boavista
FC where he played for two seasons and went on to become the assistant
coach at the club. He made his International debut for Yugoslavia
at the age of 17, he played 13 matches and scored 2 goals. |

COACHING CAREER
(1985 - 1988) He began his coaching career as an
Assistant coach in Boavista Futebol Clube, Portugal
(1988 - 1993) He got his first head coaching job
at Sport Comerico e Salgueiros, Portugal and stayed with the club
for five seasons. He orchestrated the club's most notable moments
in history by becoming Second League Champion and achieving UEFA
Cup participation through best placement in Club’s history
immediately in the next season.
(1993 - 1994) He moved to Beira Mar Sport Clube,
Portugal where he coached for a season.
(1994 - 1996) he coached Sport Lisboa e BenficaL
for a two years where he was the Assistant coach and Interim Head
coach winning one Portuguese Cup and participating in the Champions
League.
(1997) He re-joined Boavista Futebol Clube, Portugal, again,
but this time as their head coach he stayed there for one season.
(1997 -1998) he coached Sampdoria, Italy
(1998) He coached the Serbian National team, which
participated in the France World Cup 1998
(1998 - 1999) He coached Vitoria de Guimares Sport
Clube, Portugal
(1999 - 2000) He was the head coach of the Serbian
National Team.
(2000 - 2001) He coached Panionios, Greece
(2001 - 2003) He coach Red Star Belgrade, Serbia.
He won the Serbian Cup title and is remembered for launching young
players such as Nemanja Vidic, Boško Jankovic, Aleksandar Lukovic
amongst others.
(2003 - 2004) Zoran went to the United Arab Emirates
where he coached Al- Shaab and was Cup finalists.
(2004 - 2006) He became the Technical Director
of all National Selections in the Serbian and Montenegro. u21 squads
participating in the most recent World Cup in Germany and the u21
European Championship in Portugal in 2006.
(Jan 2007 - Jan 2010) He was appointed as the first
ever coach for Montenegro National Team, that participated in the
South African FIFA World Cup Qualification. His first game in charge
was a friendly against Hungary on 24 March 2007 where the they won
their debut match with 2-
1. As the coach his team played 23 matches, 8 victories, 8 draws
and 7 defeats.
(March 2010) he was hired to coach FC Ceahlaul
Piatra - Naemt, Romania only for a 3month contract until the season
ended
(July 2010) hired to coach Lamontville Golden Arrows,
South Africa
