Our U15 boys are coached by Samson Ngcobo, former Arrows Siyabonga Khanyile and Goalkeeper coach Musa Langa. Their season started off with trials being held for all U15 boys from all over Durban. Hundreds of boys turned up, which were cut down to 50 boys from different townships around Durban, which had to be cut down even more. Based on performances and other circumstances we were left with 30 players. The team trains 4 times a week from 16h00 – 17h30 on Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s ,Thursday’s and Friday’s and games are played on the weekends. To prepare our boys and get them fit for their league we arrange friendly matches for them once a week as well as get them to play curtain raisers for our senior team at the Chatsworth Stadium or King Zwelithini Stadium, which is great exposure for the boys, and they get to know what it feels like to play in front of a big crowd. They are registered in the Durban Central Stream A League which is run by SAFA. Last year they only lost one game and drew two, thus resulting them winning the league as well as the cup.

TOURNAMENTS THEY’VE TAKEN PART IN
In 2007 our boys were invited to take part in the CEZ Cup which was held in the city of Hradec Kralove, this was the 1st international tournament our boys had ever played in and unfortunately got knocked out of the group stages. In 2008 they were invited to take part in the Manchester United Premier Cup which took place in Soweto in Johannesburg from the 28th – 30th of June 2008. Other teams involved in the tournament were Orlando Pirates, Supersport United, Bidvest wits, Ajax Cape Town, School of Excellence and Moroko Swallows just to mention a few. Later that year they were invited to yet another International tournament, this time in Sweden. They participated in one of the most well known youth soccer tournaments in the world known as the Gothia Cup. Our boys made us very proud in this tournament finishing top of their group and making it to the semi finals, and unfortunately got knocked out by a Swedish side in a nail biting penalty shoot out.

OUR ANNUAL U15 TOURNAMENT
It is a tradition at Arrows that every year we host an annual tournament for our Development sides, its something for our juniors to look forward to, because this is where they get to showcase their talent in front of their family and our Senior players and coaching staff that time off to come watch and support the boys.

On Saturday the 18th of APRIL 2009 we hosted our 3rd annual U15 boys soccer tournament that takes place every year in April, which includes different teams from around Durban. FIXTURE
1. Golden Arrows A Vs Sanele XI kick-off @ 09h00
2. Golden Arrows B Vs Chesterville kick-off @ 09h00
3. Golden Arrows A Vs Chesterville kick-off @ 10h30
4. Golden Arrows B Vs Sanele XI kick-off @ 10h30
5. Golden Arrows A Vs Golden Arrows B (FINAL) kick-off @ 11h30

The games kicked-off at 09h00 with Arrows A vs Sanele XI and Arrows B vs Chesterville FC. Golden Arrows A proved to strong for Sanele XI and beat them 3 – 0.

Arrows B also won their game, beating Chesterville FC 2 -1. The next round of games kicked-off at 10h30 with Arrows A vs Chesterville FC and Arrows B vs Sanele XI. Once again Arrows A were to strong for their opponents beating Chesterville FC 4-0, and Arrows B beating Sanele XI 3-2. That meant that Arrows A and Arrows B would play each other in the final, with both arrows sides tied with 6 points. But Arrows A having an advantage over Arrows B in terms of goal difference. If both teams were to play a draw Arrows A would win the tournament because they would have more goals scored. So Arrows B had to win the game to win the tournament and Arrows A would win the tournament even if they drew. The Final kicked-off at 11h30, Arrows A dressed in green and Arrows B dressed in Yellow. The game was a very exciting game with both teams out to prove a point, Arrows A out to prove why they are the best and Arrows B wanting to beat the A-side. In the first half the Arrows B were the stronger side putting the A-side under a lot of pressure and always on the attack, which came in their favor as they scored a goal 10 minutes before the half ended. 2nd half was a different game with both teams neck and neck, and this saw the A-side come back and scored an equalizer. The B-side never gave up, but the equalizer gave the A-side confidence and there experience started to show and saw them take control of the game and scored yet another goal.5mins before the end of the game Arrows A killed all hopes of the B-side coming back to equalize by scoring another goal. Arrows A 3 Arrows B 1, Arrows A winning the tournament.

After the game there was an award ceremony with medals and trophies given to winning team as well as medals given to individual players who excelled in the tournament. After the awards ceremony Arrows Head Coach Manqoba Mngqithi addressed all teams on how well everyone played and that he was proud of how all teams showed great sportsmanship and fair play. He also stressed the importance of players playing in their right age group and that we at arrows do not condone age cheating.
