We secured a win in the last Multichoce Diski festival game against Kaizer Chiefs this afternoon.
In what promised to be an action packed finish to the festival, the crowds were not disappointed as we secured a great 3-2 win over the Glamour Boys.
The players showed intent from the first whistle, and it was a mere 4 minutes into the game when Sibeko played us up the left hand side of the field, drew Petersen out of his goals and then fed Nkosikhona Dube who slotted the ball in for the lead.
Kaizer Chiefs were here to win though, and fought back for an equaliser in the 15th minute as their captain Ngcobo beat Naicker. We were having nothing of it though, and kept getting behind their defence and creating opportunities to score.
Jappie found tha back of the net off a similar movement from our first goal and again we took the lead going into the break.
Chiefs consolidated during the break and changed their game plan. Their return saw them trying to put the ball behind our defenders and creating chances. Moses scored their equaliser in the 47th minute after they had secured a corner. They curled past the far corner and he headed it in to level the scores.
This did not dampen our spirits and we fought back. we were denied a goal after Ndwandwe was ruled offside. We were in a 2-on-1 position with Petersen. This should have taken us into the lead but the team needed to fight for the win.
The winning goal came off the boot of Dlamini, who came on the attack with Jappie on the left. They beat the defence and Petersen came off his mark in defence. Dlamini slipped the ball past him and we regained the lead.
We enjoyed a great performance as a team and are happy with the 3 points to start to the season.
We will prepare this week for our second encounter on the 16th September as we meet Cape Town City at NY49 Gugulethu Stadium at 12h00.
