Lamontville Golden Arrows have beaten Ajax Cape Town 2-0 in their Diski Challenge this morning at Ikamva Stadium.

The team came out firing in the first half and after five minutes had already had two solid attempts at goal. This set the precedent for the game, and made the intentions clear that they were wanting the win this morning. The team kept the pressure on Ajax and had their first break-through after 17 minutes when Fikizolo put one into the back of the net to give Golden Arrows the lead.

After the break, Ajax Cape Town fought back and applied some pressure on the Golden Arrows defence, they had a number of attempts at goal, but Goss’s keeping and not being on target ensured that they were unable to open an account against Arrows.

Hlongwane then sealed the game for Golden Arrows in the 80th minute when he scored off some quick attacking play by the side and made it difficult for Ajax to hope for a win.

The team play again next weekend in the morning against Bloemfontein Celtic at Siwelele Park.
