Thabani Zuke made his 50th appearance for the KwaZulu-Natal outfit, as Lehlohonolo Seema named unchanged side from the win over SuperSport.
Stellenbosch, meanwhile, handed starts to Judas Moseamedi and Antonio van Wyk after their impact off the bench against Sekhukhune United while Marc van Heerden came in for Kganyane Letsoenyo.
Moseamedi nearly made the perfect start for the visitors after a neat build-up ended with a cross from van Rooyen, but the striker steered his effort wide of the mark.
Pule Mmodi went close with a chance of his own on 20 minutes as he spotted Sage Stephens off line, but his long-range effort sailed just over the crossbar.
The home side were forced into a change in the 32nd minute, as Sbonelo Cele picked up an injury and was replaced by Siboniso Conco in the midfield.
After a scoreless first half, the opening goal arrived 10 minutes into the second half as Van Wyke played in Jayden Adams, who slotted past Gumede for his first league goal.
Arrows coach Seema responded with a double change for the final 25 minutes, as Michael Gumede and Ndwandwe came in for Knox Mutizwa and Lungelo Dube.
The hosts threw everything forward in search of an equalising goal in the latter stages of the second half, but Barker’s troops went on to get a second goal in the final five minutes thanks to Ashley Du Preez’s seventh league goal of the season.
