A well deserved win and three points tonight at Jonsson Kings Park Stadium as we beat AmaZulu by 2 goals to nil in the Durban Derby.

In what seemed to be a calculated beginning to the game from both sides, the teams seemed to be more interested in retaining possession and trying to figure out the opposing teams game plan in the first 45.

The battle on the park was concentrated in the midfield with a few trips to the final third from both sides. We seemed to have the upper hand though and dominated on shots on target as well as possession.

The boys did well to penetrate the defense and play into promising positions on the park. The home teams frustrations started to show before the end of the first half and we capitalised on that.

Just after extra time was announced Amazulu conceded a penalty for a hand ball in the box, Sibiya took to the mark and made no mistake to give us the lead heading into the break.

Coming back in the second half, pressure was maintained on the home side from the whistle. We managed to keep Usuthu on the backfoot and played behind their defense a number of times.

A number of great positional plays from Sibiya, Mmodi and Ndwandwe kept the pressure on the home side and payed off in the 50th minute as Sibiya played Ndwandwe into position. The youngster took a tight angle shot, beating Mothwa and extending the lead for us.

The tempo of the game changed and became more physical. Our defense did well and put their bodies on the line to ensure a clean sheet against our opposition.

A positive result tonight and a good foundation ahead of the weekends game against Mamelodi Sundowns.
