The team gave a fairly good performance and played decent football
after a day long trip from Durban to Venda. The match was played at night, under rain, typical of Thohoyandou, it was still hot but much better than what it would have been during the day.
We had a good first half with lots of clear cut chances to take the lead in the match but we failed. The opponent kept pushing and piling pressure but we showed lots of maturity in defending. As a result the opponent did not create too many opportunities.
Of the chances we had, we could immediately remember the Venter ball that hit the upright, Parusnath had his ball parried by the keeper, Sibiya’s shot going over the bar, Lamola had an easy tap in to make and many more which occurred in the second half. We simply lacked composure in front of Goals.
Our goal came early in the second half and we deservedly took the lead. We were fairly in control of the match but lacked the right connection between winning the ball, the stabilizing or forward pass to create a scoring opportunity. Something we seriously need to work on.
Our good work was undone by lapse of concentration when we conceded a corner with 4 minutes to go before end of the match. The resulting corner was flicked from near post to far and found Lamola and Sibisi not ready. The opponent got a late equalizer and the match ended 1:1.
