It took extra time to get a result in today’s Telkom Knockout fixture against Polokwane City at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
We had an outstanding performance in both halves of full time this afternoon. The Starting XI produced some good attacking plays off solid defensive work as well as turn over ball in the mid field, but we were just not able to find that golden final play to find the back of the net.
We set a dominance in the game on all fronts, and were unlucky not to score. Mutizwa, Mshali and Makhubela had opportunities after receiving clean ball, however Polokwane seemed to pull out some last second defence to stop the chances.
The introduction of Sibeko gave a second wind to the team just before the 90 minute mark and going into the second half the positive play continued.
Sibeko played up the near side, into the box and took a tight shot at target. It deflected off a visiting defender and past Chigova for an own goal and the lead.
We managed to hold on and see the extra time out, clinging to the lead for the win.
A good all round performance from the team today that sees us progress to the next round of the competition.
