A solid defensive game tonight saw us secure the win and proceed to the semi finals of the 2019 Telkom Knockout competition.

From the start of the game, SuperSport were determined to attack and enjoyed the bigger share of possession of the ball. We made great use of our ball and looked for ways to play up on the left wing, bringing the ball back in behind the defence. This worked well for us, and we put some good pressure on the hosts defence.

In the 11th minute we were awarded a free kick in front of the box. We created a wall in front of the SuperSport one, and Mtshali took the set piece. He struck it well, and it dipped perfectly to find the back of the net.

We had a number of decent plays into the final third after that. Mutizwa looked dangerous a number of times, but the SuperSport defending closed down most of the plays.

Coming back from the break it was SuperSport who dominated possession of the ball. They threw all that they had at us, creating opportunities off set pieces and corners, but failed to convert any chances. Sibanda did well to defend his goal and lead the defence from the back.

But it was an 11 man effort to maintain the lead and keep the home side from scoring.

In extra time, an accidental hand ball from Lunga gave SuperSport a penalty, threatening extra time. Modiba placed the ball, struck it, and found the upright to deny a late equaliser and extra time in the game.

We will wait until after tomorrows final quarter final to see who our opponents will be in the semi finals of the competition.
