Our Diski boys secured another win at home this afternoon against Free State Stars in the MDC Challenge.
From the first whistle the intent on the win was evident as we pushed up and into the opposition last third from the kick-off.
A well fought first half was enjoyed by the crowd though. No goals were scored and the sides went into the changerooms at 0-0. Solid performances from the side saw a rock solid defence with Sibisi i, Buthelezi, Falakhe and Dlamini leading from the back and displaying some great defending when Free State Stars attacked.
There were promising movements and Falakhe had a great game, playing up on attck and feeding Jappie and Sibeko well. But we were just not able to find the back of the net in the first 45 minutes.
Returning to the field after the break, it was determination that saw Sibeko eventually get a breakthrough in the 54th minute with a header after Buthelezi flicked it to him at the far post. A well executed attacking play from the team.
This caused a flurry of play from Free State Stars as they tried to find an equaliser. But strong defence again paid off for the youngsters as they held off the attack.
We bolstered our lead in the 86th minute as replacement Mathenjwa found the back of the net and secured the game.
The team now have the week to prepare for their game againt Baroka FC at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium next weekend.
