GOLDEN ARROWS VS CAPE TOWN ALL STARS | NFD

Abafana Bes’thende have drawn with Cape Town All Stars in their NFD fixture this afternoon at Chatsworth Stadium.

The visiting side came up to get maximum points from the game and that was evident after they opened the scoring after just 10 minutes. The side was hungry for a win as they need the points to remain in contention for play-offs for the league. They threw all they had at Golden Arrows in the half and defended their goals for all they were worth.

They went into the half 1 nil up and this was probably the biggest reason for coach Shaun Bartlett to bring in both Hotto and Masaole from the bench on the turn of the half.

The injection made some difference, but Golden Arrows were fighting with all they had to find the equaliser. Some great saves from Cape Town All Stars keeper and a couple of unlucky attempts denied the home team until the 84th minute when Nxumalo found the back of the net after some great play from Fikizolo and Khenyeza.

This sealed the draw and for the remaining minutes Abafana Bes’thende pushed hard for the win.

It was not however meant to be, and the result was finalised by the refs whistle after 3 minutes of extra time.

The result however does mean that Abafana Bes’thende are the NFD winners this season and will be promoted back to the PSL next season.
