Lamontville Golden Arrows have gone down 3-2 to Bidvest Wits in a dramatic turn of events this afternoon.
The first half was a tense affair in itself, with both teams being very physical on the ball and Bidvest Wits attacking Lamontville Golden Arrows goal in force. Amazing keeping from Mbaeva saw Wits being frustrated as they had 3 attempts at goal that should have been in the back of the net, and effectively ensuring that they went into the change rooms still on equal par with the home side.
After the break Bidvest Wits came out showing the intention to take the game, and again had a slight domination on possession but it was against the play that saw Mahachi play up field and send a cross into the box that found Hotto. He headed the ball in to give Lamontville Golden Arrows the lead in the 52 minute. Wits replied with an equaliser from Mahlambi in the 72ndminute, as he smashed a cross into the back of the net.
In what was probably the game of the PSL so far this year, Golden Arrows then scored again as Fikizolo took the ball up field, crossed to Khenyeza who knocked it into an empty goal to take the lead again. With both teams fighting tooth and nail for the win, it was the 80th minute when it all fell apart for Abafana Bes’thende when Mbaeva was given his marching orders after handling the ball outside the box while defending. Klate took the kick for Wits, beat the wall and substitute goalkeeper Goss, who had come on to try and fill Mbaeva’s boots.
The Clever Boys then finished the game off when Klate again put the ball in, merely a minute later, after Pule played up the far side, crossed and found Klate who made sure of the mark.
Lamontville Golden Arrows never gave up and fought back well in the closing minutes, but were unable to pull one back to share the spoils.
The team have another couple of weeks break and then face Polokwane City at Chatsworth Stadium on 19 December in the last game for this year before the festive break.
