Lamontville Golden Arrows suffered another disappointing loss in the Absa Premiership on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 away by Mpumalanga Black Aces away in Nelspruit.
It means two successive defeats in four days for new coach Mark Harrison, who now has a two week break before the team play again to try and turn the fortunes around.
Zamuxolo Ngalo scored the game’s only goal for Aces in the 33rd minute.
Arrows started the game brightly with four early free kicks from Vuyisile Ntombayithethi but it was Aces’ midfielder Onyekachi Okonkwo who had the first strike on goal, competently dealt with by Siya Mngoma.
Just past the half-hour mark, Lucky Nguzana steered his free kick right of the target. Two minutes later Aces were ahead.
New coach Harrison sought to make an early impact in the second half as he took off Nguzana and brought on Jabulani Nene, who was cautioned by the referee not long thereafter.
Peter Wadabwa then came on in place of Rudolph Bester and Arrows threatened with set piece from Philani Shange, who was then taken off for the final 20 minutes with Russel Mlotshwa coming on in his place.
But chance were few and far between at the Mbombela Stadium with the only goal proving decisive.
