Lamontville Golden Arrows have defeated Baroka FC in an action packed 4-2 game at Chatsworth stadium this afternoon.

The tempo of the game was set form the first whistle, and only after a couple of minutes Baroka made it clear that they had travelled for a win, nothing more, as Brooks opened the scoring and put Baroka FC on the board. Abafana Bes’thende were not going to take this lying down and equalised minutes later off the boot of Masaole to equalise and let the visitors know that it was 3 points that were the objective today.

This set a dynamic tempo for the first half that saw both teams playing aggressively for both possession and goals. If it was goals that were the order of the day, then both teams were going to give them to the crowd. Hendricks, took a free-kick 3m outside the box and slotted it in for Arrows second goal, while Baroka FC managed their second to take the teams to the changerooms at 2 all at the break.

After a great contribution in the first half, C.Cele was substituted off and replaced by Hotto at half time, and the fiery winger made his mark in the last 45 minutes of the game. With speed and ball retention he took the ball up a number of times, being able to because of clean passing and possession from his team mates.

The team looked composed and focussed in the second half, taking advantage of every opportunity they had, bombarding the Baroka goals at every turn. This paid off considerably, and allowed the goal haul to increase by two for the half. The third and fourth goal off Masaoles boot .

An ecstatic Abafana Bes’thende left the field, happy with their 3 points haul as well as improving on their finishing and converting their efforts into points.
