Lamontville Golden Arrows let a first-half lead slip as they lost 2-1 to Platinum Stars at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday.
Abafana bes’thende had the lead through Jabulani Nene, but goals from Lindokhule Mbatha and Robert Ng’ambi turned things around for the visitors.
Arrows made most of the early running and had an opportunity for Nene, but he fired over the top.
Thabani Mthembu was unfortunate not to score his first league goal for Dikwena when his powerful header rebounded off the crossbar midway through the first half.
Arrows were ahead on 36 minutes and this time Nene did hit the target, turning home a cross from Bongi Ntuli.
That was the way it stayed until halftime, but just two minutes after the break the break the visitors were level. Mbatha fired home from a free-kick after Thanduyise Khuboni had felled former teammate Sibusiso Hadebe.
And Stars hit the front on 55 minutes as Ng’ambi scored his seventh of the season, heading home a cross from left-back Luvolwethu Mpeta.
That was the way it stayed until the end, Arrows dropping to 15th in the Absa Premiership table.
Next up for Mark Harrison’s men is an away trip to Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday.
