GOLDEN ARROWS 3
1 BIDVEST WITS
Competition: Multichoice Diski
Date: Sunday,08 November 2015
Venue: King Zwelethini Stadium
Kick-off: 12:00pm
The Diski ‘Stendes have continued their winning streak with a well-earned 3-1 win over Bidvest Wits this afternoon.
In a game that started off with both teams feeling each other out and battling it off in the midfield, to coming back from 1 goal down, the Diski Sthendes have come away with another 3 points in the Multichoice Diski Challenge this afternoon.
The home side dominated possession in the opening minutes of the game, although never had opportunities to make use of the ball against a Wits side who were intent on trying to make their plays when holding onto the ball. It was against the play in the half that Wits opened the scoring for the game after a barrage of attack from Arrows. They played the ball up the right hand side, played the ball into the box and beat Goss to give them a goal.
This put the Golden Arrows team on the back foot for a while and they lost a bit of concentration, allowing Wits to dominate play. After a couple of minutes and some consolidation, Lamontville Golden Arrows got back onto it, and this saw Hlongwane winning the ball in the middle of the field in wits half and playing it up the box. After a number of plays that saw them regain composure they eventually equalised as Fikizolo dribbled past the keeper and put the ball into the back of the net.
The game changed at this point, and Lamontville Golden Arrows took advantage of their possession, playing into the last 3rd when in possession. Sibeko had an opportunity to go one up after being put in a one on one situation with the keeper from a cross off Fikizolo, but he failed to add to his season haul after he held on the ball for too long, allowing Wits keeper to make the save.
The last 5 minutes of the half saw Wits trying to take the lead again, but some great defensive work from Nzama, and some solid hands from Goss saw the teams going into the change rooms at 1 all.
After the break Hlongwane took the ball up field a number of times, and put great pressure on the Wits defenders in a hunt for a second goal. The team had a number of great runs up the wings from S.Dube and Fikizolo but battled to finish off in the last 3rd. The frustration of not being able to break the tie however, did not discourage them, and after a number of plays,Sibeko managed to break the deadlock after playing up the wing, dribbling into the box and taking a shot low and into the corner to take the team 1 up against their opponents.
This broke the defence for the remainder of the game, and Wits found themselves at sixes and sevens against the Diski ‘Sthendes who could smell the win. Wits buckled under the pressure, and in desperation Sibiya was fouled just outside the box. Seth Parusnath took no time in making use of the situation, taking the kick and scoring just before full time to give Lamontville Golden Arrows a 3-1 win.
The team have a big game next weekend on Saturday, when they face Orlando Pirates at Sinaba Stadium at 12h00.
