Kwanele Hlongwane scored a brace this afternoon to help ensure the 3-1 win for Abafana Bes’thende against Amatuks in their Multichoice Diski Challange fixture. The team seemed to be back to their former selves as they saw off the opposition in another exciting game.

The first half saw the players coming to the field and playing with confidence, and after a short time to asses AmaTuks’ game plan, took control and played for the win. In the 15th minute Hlongwane was in the middle of the field in the box when the ball was passed to him, he took his shot and opened the scoring for the home side. It was clear that the team wanted the goals today and a flurry of attacks from The home side saw Sibeko, Sibiya and Hlongwane in the box on a number of occasions looking to score again.

AmaTuks tried to pull one back before the break, and had a number of set pieces to give them opportunity, but some great defending as well as impressive keeping from Goss denied them the opportunities.

Coming onto the field for the second half We continued our dominance of the game and 2 minutes after the break were awarded a penalty when Sibeko was taken down in the box. Hlongwane placed the ball and stroked it to the keepers left to give the home side their second for the day.

K. parusnath scored the 3rd goal, when he had an amazing shot at goal from outside the box. He blasted it past the keeper and took the home side 3-0 up.

AmaTuks were awarded a penalty late in the second half for a foul on one of their players in the box. They took it and scored and immediately afterwards the ref blew the final whistle of the game.

This is an important 3 points for the side and will help in their fight to regain a top position. They will play again next weekend at King Zwelithini Stadioum again, where they will face Maritzburg United.
