The Abafana Bes’thende Diski side played to a 1-0 win over Supersport at TUTS Stadium this morning. The game had an early 10am kick off, in an action packed Saturday of sport.

The game was a well matched affair, with both teams eager to claim the points for the meeting. This ensured that the fans were in for an entertaining morning as both teams used their possession and field advantage to a maximum to attempt breaking the opposition defence and putting the ball in the back of the net.

Watching the game, the general feeling was that the first team to score would be the ones to win the match, and just before the allocated first 45 minutes, Fikizolo managed to take advantage and score for Lamontville Golden Arrows.

The break was well deserved for both teams, and as one would expect, it often gives the team on the back foot, time to consolidate and re-work their game plan in the second stanza.

Supersport United did just this, and came back fighting in the second half. They had a number of very good shots at goal, but some brilliant keeping from Goss ensured that the four almost sure goals in the game, were not successful.

The second half turned out being a midfield battle mostly, and had each team playing hard to retain possession and take advantage from it.

At the end though, it was once again the quick passes, movement of players, and silky touches to the ball that ensured that the 3 points belonged to Lamontville Golden Arrows.

The team now have a 2 weekend break until they meet Ajax Cape Town at Ikamva Stadium on the 10 October.
