We lost our first game of the season this afternoon in a 6 goal sizzler against Cape Town City.
In the opening exchanges of the game, City looked to set some dominance, with Mokeke taking a shot that Mlungwana tipped over the bar. The home side managed to keep possession of the ball well, not allowing us time to set any pattern in the game and then opened the scoring in the 14th minute with Martin’s grass cutter from the near side.
We were not disheartened and fought back for the equaliser. Mutizwa hung the ball up from a free kick, Mathiane headed it down in the box and Ndwandwe connected well to see us go into the break at a goal a piece.
Returning after the break, we managed to take the lead as Mutizwa converted a penalty after Fieles commited a foul in the box.
The City side were determined though and managed to get behind the defence often. Fieles redeemed himself with a header in the 62nd minute to equalise.
It was goals from Mdantsane and then Lakay that sealed the game and put an end to our 11 game unbeaten streak.
The squad will return to Durban and begin preparation for our Derby game against Maritzburg United on Saturday next weekend.
