We secured just one point in this afternoon’s DSTv Premiership game after a 2-2 draw with TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium.

We took some time in the first half of the game to find some momentum today, but once we did we attacked the goals well, with some well executed positional play between Mmdoi and Mantshiyane as well as Dube and Dlamini.

On several occasions both pairs of players were able to get behind the defense and put Gumede in a position to make an attempt at goals. We were unlucky in our attempts, either putting the efforts just wide or finding the woodwork.

We got a breakthrough n the 40th minute after Magawana was bought down in the box. The referee awarded a penalty and Gumede made sure to convert.

The lead was short lived though as TD Galaxy fought back and equalized just 3 minutes later off the boot of Macuphu.

Once again, the second stanza took some time to build into any action. Both sides seemed to be waiting to see how each other’s game plans had changed. The rockets made two substitutions from the break and were hoping to find a break in play.

Once again, we created a number of opportunities to score and once again the efforts were either wide of the mark or saved by Kolak.

We eventually took the lead again in the 76th minute after Ndwandwe was unmarked on the far post from a corner. Magubane’s set piece was delivered perfectly to him and he struck well to take the lead once again.

Unfortunately, 10 minutes later we once again conceded a goal. Some confusion on defense saw the ball deflected for an own goal off a shot from Mngomezulu.

The boys never gave up and continued to fight until the last seconds of optional time. The last play of the game was Mmodi denied by the woodwork to secure a win.

The team and technical staff must return to Durban and resolve any issues identified in our play before we meet AmaZulu for a Derby match at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on September 22nd.
