We suffered defeat today as Mamelodi Sundowns walked away with a 1-0 victory at Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
It was a game of two halves today. We kicked off and set a fast paced for the first 45 minutes. Doing well to take the game to the visitors and setting some dominance on the park. We showed our intent as early as the 7th minute off a corner kick, but the resulting tight angled shot from Sibisi found the side netting.
This was to be the story of the half for us, we did well on a number of occasions to spread the ball well and get behind the defense, but were just not able to find the target with Mmodi, Ndwandwe and Mutizwa all going wide.
The structural play in the half was good, with each player putting in a big effort on the park.
Coming back after the break, Mamelodi Sundowns seemed to come back on a different level of play from the first 45. Sirino just missed an opportunity to give them the lead minutes into the half as he put the effort wide.
It was only 12 minutes after that that he put the ball past Mbaeva after Jali served it up off a backheel pass.
We then failed to convert from the penalty spot as Michael Gumede fired past the goals.
The team will need to pull together quickly and concentrate on getting pints on the road as we travel to meet Cape Town City on Saturday
