We shared the spoils this afternoon against a determined Polokwane City at Peter Mokaba Stadium
After putting some early pressure on the hosts and securing an early breakthrough as Mutizwa headed a well delivered ball from the far side, we failed to capitalise on other chances created to extend a half time lead.
We also allowed Polokwane City to play back into the game. The space they were given allowed them to create numerous chances to equalise before the break.
Mlungwana showed amazing determination in the game, and had one of the best saves of the season in the 25th minute off a shot from Chauke. This allowed us to go into the break with a goal advantage.
Although this was the case, the home side came back fighting in the second half. Right from the whistle they attacked our goals and looked to pull back an equaliser to get themselves back into the game.
They achieved this in the 69th minute as substitute Anas found the back of the net after Mlungwana was not quick enough to recover after making another great save off a shot from Maluleke.
Although shared points, there were a number of positives to come from the game, one being the determined defence at the back from Mathiane, Mlungwana and once again Sibisi.
We now have just 6 days to prepare for our home game clash against Kaizer Chiefs, which will take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium on January 25th at 15h30.
